Esta, explica ao M&P Jaime Alberto, editor multimédia da newsmagazine da Cofina, “é uma réplica exacta da redacção real da Sábado”, sendo que os avatars que interajam com os computadores “têm acesso ao site da Sábado, podendo ainda enviar artigos”

Foi com um sorriso que recebi a notícia da presença da Sábado no Second Life, revista que me acompanha há vários anos. Foi na Sábado que há quase 3 anos atrás, em Setembro de 2006 li pela primeira vez sobre o universo virtual do Second Life e foi seguindo as instruções da reportagem, particularmente interessada pela ideia descrita de ter uma profissão alternativa que criei o meu alter ego Marina Xi.
Para mim o que estava descrito na reportagem realizou-se e o trabalho que executo hoje no SL é uma parte muito importante da minha vida.
Obrigada revista Sábado, vou visitar a redacção virtual. :-)

Today is a happy day!
We are so happy to inform you the that we received notice from Linden Labs that the tier on Homesteads will be grandfathered at the current rate until July 1st 2010!
This means that all GlenXi customers/friends that own/rent a Homestead will see their rate remain the same for one more year.
Additionally all Homesteads ordered before July 1, 2009 will keep the current tier rate for one more year. This makes an excellent opportunity for you if you've been thinking about adding or buying an island. Now is the time to place your order with GlenXi Inc.

U.S. army opens recruiting station in second life
"Second Life avatar dudes" will find an Army island in the virtual world, according to William S. Wallace, the commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
In reality there will be two: a welcome center with relevant information and another that will offer "virtual experiences like jumping out of airplanes, rappelling off of towers, and using a weapon," he said.

It's called a value-added tax, or VAT, and it's been used for decades to pay the bills and sustain the immense growth of governments around the world, from France to Mexico to Australia. Created in 1954 by a French economist, the VAT is the most potent, efficient machine for revenue generation yet invented.
"The bottom line is that the income tax cannot support the level of spending that's projected, something other countries faced years ago," said Roberton Williams of the Tax Policy Center, a non-partisan research institute.

virtual theft - good news!
"A report has called for European legislators to create new laws to prevent the theft of virtual goods. (...)
More than 30 per cent of registered accounts in online worlds have lost something of value as a result of criminal activity. Only a quarter for recovered the items because the laws and procedures for dealing with such situations often fuzzy. The real money value of such thefts are estimated at €1.5bn and there is little that a user can do if their virtual property is stolen. (...) "
